Our Truckers and their Pup Passengers

At Storey Trucking, our flexible pet policy allows drivers to bring their furry friends along on the road with them! Our two-pet per-truck policy allows our driver’s pets to get a companion too. Not every company allows dogs and cats to be on the truck, but at Storey, we believe pets offer our drivers the companionship they need, keeping them more satisfied on the road. While some companies might charge deposits or pet fees each month for drivers that have pets on board, at Storey we do not charge fees to our drivers for having a pet.

As those in the industry know, truck driving can sometimes be a lonely and stressful profession. Having a cat or dog onboard provides our drivers with not only companionship but also more opportunities for extra pit stops, meaning more exercise. Pets are known to reduce stress and increase happiness, so we say all aboard!

Around 40-50% of Storey’s drivers have a pet on the truck with them. Meet a few of the pup passengers who call our trucks their home!

The white one is Daisy Mae. We got her from Sand Mountain Mutts N Pups Rescue after my 13-year-old chihuahua passed away. Daisy Mae was amazing but is unfortunately no longer with us.

The black one is Phoebe, and a friend gave her to me. She's almost 8 years old and has been on the truck with us since she was a puppy. Pheobe is a chihuahua and Jack Russell. She just likes riding. She is usually in the bunk with whoever is back there...she's a good snuggler.

She’s a funny thing; if we're sitting still and you turn on the window wipers, she tries to get on the dashboard to attack them. When we get close to home, she starts sniffing the vents and wagging her tail and as soon as we pull in the yard at Storey, she goes nuts because she knows where we are!

My dog’s name is Gypsy. About 4 months ago, I watched someone throw her out of a moving vehicle, and I stopped to pick her up. She's been with me ever since that day.

I enjoy her company while out on the road and the aggravation that goes along with it as well. (haha) She thinks she is still a puppy and a lap dog!

Julia and James R.

Our dog's name is Shiloh, and we got her from a friend who breeds huskies in Alabama.  She has been on the truck with us since she was about 8 weeks old! She makes us get out of the truck and move around, which is great. Huskies don't really bark, but they are vocal and very friendly. Everyone we encounter on the road thinks she's beautiful!

Our furry guy’s name is Stanley Strutter Knapp (named after Paul Stanley of KISS). Strutter is my favorite KISS song. LOL.

He will be 2 in July, and he has been riding with us since he was 6 weeks old. He is awesome to travel with! Our breaks now include 30-minute toy time and playing fetch. He actually throws the ball back to you. He's the smartest dog we've ever met.

Tywana and Richard M.

Our dogs’ names are Gus and Lady. I got Gus from a lady in Summerville, GA. He was born on February 9, 2016, and we got him at 4 weeks old. He's been on every trip with us for 7 years.

We met Lady in 2019 when we moved to Leesburg. She was Richard's nephew's dog that lived down the road. But she took up with us! She wouldn't go home, so she became my baby!  We think she's 11 or 12 years old. She has been on every trip with us for 4 years.

They are good company, and it's never a dull moment! They love to go on the road! They sleep a lot, and they love looking for other dogs! As long as they are with us, they are happy.

It’s funny, they do not know they are dogs! They act just like kids, and they love everyone they meet!

Sookie, my English bulldog, was adopted 6 years ago, and has been a truck doggie ever since. Sookie is a big love bug. She loves attention and loves to roll down a hill on her back.

Afina is an Aussie German shepherd mix who was adopted, and she has been a truck doggie for over year and half. Afina is a guard dog and can run up to 30 mph. Once she is around you for a while, she will beg you to pet her.

They bring us a lot of laughter and companionship. They enjoy being on the road by blowing the horn at gas pumps at other drivers. They also enjoy snow when we have some out on the road.

The black and tan dog is Bear, and he is two and half years old. Bear puts on an act like he is going to tear you up, but he just wants to be petted. The light color brown dog is Sweet Tea, who is two years old. Sweet Tea likes to shark attack you with kisses when you don't expect it.

They have both been in the truck for two years, since they were 6 months old. I enjoy having their company while on the road. If you are by yourself, whatever you do is not as enjoyable. Having the pups in the truck makes everything more enjoyable!
